At Port Explorers, we also offer 'Outside School Hours Care' (OSHC) for school aged children, to provide professional support to assist families in the multiple roles they are responsible for in a modern world.
We understand that parents need to work and are pleased to be able to offer this 'outside school hours care' service to assist the local community. Our service consists of Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care. As with our Day Care Centre, it is important to us that the service we provide to the children enrolled in OHSC is stimulating, supportive, engaging and also lots of fun.
Afternoon tea is provided at After School Care. It usually consist of assorted sandwiches, mixed fruits, yoghurts and platters. Children sometimes assist the eductor/s in creating their own yummy treats - cakes, muffins etc. For Vacation Care, a nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
During meal times the children are reminded of the importance of developing appropriate hygiene and eating habtis. Cold water is available at all times for the children to access in the fridge and we encourage good hydration in our tropical environment.
At OSHC we have an indoor area that is fully equipped to meet the children's interests and needs. This area is used for inside activities as well as a space for children to unwind and relax. We also use the Port Douglas State School areas including the senior and junior playground, multi-purpose hall, undercover area, tennis court and oval.
Our Vacation Care programs are designed to assist parents with childcare during the school holidays. Our programs include a wide range of activities including physical activities such as sport and games, cultural activities including cooking and craft and excursions. You can check out what we have lined up for the September 2017 holidays in our latest Vacation Care program.
